Founded in the Heart of Washington DC
202 Records LLC is an independent record label based in Washington, DC, with a mission to support and promote Go-Go Music and emerging artists across the Washington DC Metropolitan area on a global scale. Our journey began with a simple but powerful vision: to create a platform where local talent could reach global audiences.
The label partners with The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) and is supported by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. 202 Records LLC aims to become a leading independent record label in the music industry, specializing in Go-Go Music and promoting emerging artists in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
With the help of our strategic partnerships and collaborations, we are determined to showcase the unique sound and culture of Go-Go Music to the world. Our name "202" represents more than just DC's area code – it's a badge of honor, a symbol of authenticity, and a promise to never forget where we came from.
Go-Go: Official Music of Washington DC
On February 19, 2020, Mayor Muriel Bowser signed the "Go-Go Official Music of the District of Columbia Designation Act of 2020" making Go-Go the official music of Washington, DC. The District is proud of its native Go-Go Music and the talented local musicians who have created our city's distinct musical sound that transcends geographical and demographic boundaries.
D.C. Law 23-71 enacted on April 11th, 2020 was a major milestone for our city. 202 Records declares and commits to the creation, development, preservation, and promotion of Go-Go music worldwide.
